OV and EV certificates are issued in the name of a real organization. The certificate authority (Sectigo, DigiCert and others) must confirm that the organization exists and that the person ordering is allowed to act for it. Here is what works in Pakistan.
1. Proof that the organization exists
- Private limited company: SECP Certificate of Incorporation. The company name must match exactly, including "(Pvt) Ltd" or "(Private) Limited".
- Sole proprietor: FBR NTN certificate showing the business name, or a Chamber of Commerce registration.
- Partnership (AOP): registered partnership deed plus NTN.
- NGO or trust: registration certificate from the relevant authority plus NTN.
- Government: an official letterhead letter confirming the department and the signer.
2. Address
A registered office address in Pakistan that appears in the SECP record, on the NTN, on a bank letter or on a utility bill in the business name.
3. Phone verification
The CA calls a phone number that they can find in an independent source: a business listing, the SECP record, or a letter from a lawyer or chartered accountant. We provide the attestation letter template. This step causes most delays, so prepare it early.
4. Domain ownership
The domain must belong to the organization. If WHOIS privacy hides the owner, we add a DNS record instead. Domains registered with DomainWalay make this quick.
5. EV only
A signed EV Subscriber Agreement and confirmation of the contract signer. Companies younger than three years may be asked for a bank letter.
